Trout fishing, in the Moy Valley, is just as popular as salmon fishing. Brown trout and sea trout can be found in the surrounding rivers, estuaries and loughs. There are, however, a few select hotspots where rainbow trout can be caught. There tends to be brown trout populating the same waters as rainbow trout, so catching one of these colourful specimens will prove slightly more challenging. In recent years there have been many successful catches of trout on Lough Conn. Both Lough Conn and Lough Cullen provide the best chances of a good trout catch due to the large numbers of Mayfly that hatch on the waters providing the perfect nursery.
